FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

How can therapy help me?

Therapy can be an emotional support, help to release pent up emotions, reduce stress & anxiety, help with finding purpose, help to dissect problems and figure out how to solve them, and build self-confidence.

Do you provide tools to use at home?

Sometimes issues highlighted in session carry over to self-work applied beyond scheduled therapy sessions. I provide tools and resources that can be used outside of sessions to manage symptoms, challenge negative thought patterns and behaviors, and capitalize on the work done in session.

Are virtual sessions available?

Yes. Virtual sessions are available. During your consultation, you will be asked which type of session you prefer: in person or virtual. Throughout our work together, virtual sessions are also available in the event of scheduling conflicts that prevent an in person session. Please advise at least 30 minutes prior to your scheduled session time if a change is needed by texting 'Virtual Session' to (804) 420-2279. You can access virtual appointments on the home page under the section 'For Current Clients...'

Do you prescribe medication?

I do not prescribe any medications. Psychotropic medication is prescribed by Psychiatrists and Psychiatric Nurse Practitioners, the designations are MD and ARNP respectively.  I am familiar with medications but am not able to give guidance or tell another practitioner what to prescribe to you. I communicate with medication prescribers if you request me to do so in order to help them better help you as there is benefit from medication treatment combined with psychotherapy.
